Past Interests
Before his transition to photography, Ian had a distinguished career in Martial Arts spanning, 36 years, gaining him International status in the art of Muay Thai, and was national representative in this discipline for both Scotland and Canada. Photography was a secondary passion during the final years of his martial arts career. |
Coming to Canada
Having a love for hiking that he pursued in the Scottish Highlands, it was not long before Ian was accruing hikes and trails in the Canadian Rockies most weekends. It was while climbing Mount Temple, one of the highest peaks in Alberta, and sitting “on top of the world” as Ian would put it, that he had the urge to capture the beauty of the Rockies in photography. It was at this point that Ian’s passion for photography took root. Now, any short hike would become a long one, due to the stopping and starting, wondering what would be round the next corner. With landscape comes wildlife. Soon Ian’s images would include the wild animals found on the trails or the backcountry. |
